Fundraisers for Community Organizations

We love to support community groups and agencies by helping non-profit organizations conduct fundraisers at the store. These are very pleasant events that can be tailored to meet different group’s needs. These can be held anytime during the year, but they are generally scheduled in September and October. (November and December dates are very limited.)

We try to make it as simple as possible for the non-profits. We set aside an evening or Sunday and donate 10-20% of sales to the designated organization. Each group is then responsible for getting the word out and inviting their supporters to attend. Groups often raise additional funds by providing gift-wrapping services. The store donates all needed supplies.

The owners of Capitol Kids choose which local organizations will be involved. Our priorities are: early childhood education, healthy child development and strong families. We also sponsor programs that prevent poverty and hunger. Service groups that support these efforts are also eligible to apply. A one-page application is necessary for consideration.

Donations to Community Groups and Early
Childhood Programs

We consider requests for donations throughout the year. Hundreds of groups ask for donations and we are not able to grant every request. We do not give cash donations. Depending on the event, the agency or cause, and our resources, we are happy to do what we can to support local groups.

If we are not familiar with your group, we will ask for a letter and proof of non-profit status. We do not give donations to other businesses or social groups just for the sake of offering gifts to people. We designate our donations to help support early childhood education, healthy child development, strong families or efforts to prevent poverty and hunger.

If we give your group gift certificates, we want you to know that we do not give cash back or combine our donated gift certificates with other discounts. Only one donated gift certificate can be used toward a purchase. We ask that you make sure that one gift certificate be given to a person. Donated gift certificates must be redeemed within the specified time period.
